Spring is the thing, time to sing - 2025

The time spent with birds is good for my soul. Now the species that are here are singing their hearts out for territory and mates, and it's music to my ears!

On March 9 in the woods near the Staldenweiher, I finally saw a new bird and managed to get a picture to confirm it: a hawfinch/Kernbeisser. I'm proud that I managed to get a picture, because I estimate it was 30 to 35 meters high up at the top of a tree (which I later read is a place they like), and my camera plus 200-600mm teleobjective weights 2.7 kg. In addition, I had to use manual focus for a bird in the middle of branches, otherwise the camera focuses on the branches. It's not my best picture ever, but a decent one of a hawfinch. A total of 48 species is included, 54 of them have been observed.
